FAW is the full workplace first aid certificate, covering the wider range of injuries and illnesses a first aider may meet in a higher-risk setting. Delivered over three days with continuous practical assessment and written papers.

Course Content

  • All EFAW content — primary survey, unresponsive casualty, CPR/AED, choking, shock, bleeding and minor injuries
  • Conducting a secondary survey
  • Fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains
  • Head and spinal injuries
  • Chest injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Eye injuries
  • Poisoning and harmful substances
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Major illness — heart attack, stroke, seizures, asthma and diabetic emergencies
  • Record keeping and reporting

Entry Requirements

  • Aged 14 or over on the first day of training
