EFAW gives nominated workplace first aiders the knowledge and skills to manage first aid emergencies until further help arrives. Suitable for lower-risk workplaces, it is delivered in one day with practical assessment throughout and a written theory paper. Certificate valid for three years.
Course Content
- Role and responsibilities of the first aider, including infection control and consent
- Assessing an incident and the primary survey
- Managing an unresponsive casualty — adult
- CPR and AED use
- Seizure management
- Choking — adult
- Wounds, external bleeding and catastrophic bleeding control
- Recognition and management of shock
- Minor injuries — cuts, grazes, minor burns and scalds, splinters and nosebleeds

Entry Requirements
